Susan Alvey has twenty-five years of experience in leadership development, executive coaching, and team facilitation. Susan has served as an internal and external consultant, working with executives to build leadership capabilities which complement their business strengths. By focusing on leadership and communication, she enables leaders to discover the impacts of their actions and maximize their own styles of influence. Her clients have included Kaplan, Inc., Sepracor,Inc.,RBS Citizens Bank, Forbes Consulting, Brown University, PepsiCo, Ameriprise Financial, BroadReach Health Care, American Tower, Transamerica, New England Organ Bank, and many others in a wide variety of industries. In addition to working with her own clients, Susan coaches participants in Harvard Business School Executive Education, is a moderator with Harvard Business Publishing, and teaches in Babson College’s MBA program.
From 2001 to 2006, Susan headed Learning and Organization Development for Harvard Business Publishing where she coached executives and managers, facilitated strategy planning, and introduced a new performance management system. She continues to consult with HBP’s corporate clients to build leadership and managerial competencies.
Prior to Harvard Business Publishing, Susan directed learning and communication for Tufts Health Plan. In that role, she guided numerous change initiatives, including enterprise-wide technology implementation, a business liquidation, and initial forays into ecommerce. Earlier in her career, Susan was on the faculty at Endicott College, and a consultant at Arthur D. Little, Inc. and MITRE Corp.
Susan holds a BA from Smith College, an MBA from Northeastern University and a DBA from the University of Phoenix. She resides in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
